Gone by: Michael Grant

In the blink of an eye, everyone disappears. Gone. Except for the young. There are teens, but not one single adult. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...

What i like about this book is that its very action packed and gruesome. Just because the cover of the book has a boy and a girl on it, does not make it a stupid dumb romance novel. in all but the last 2 books there is very and i mean very few romance in it. It keeps you intrigued and there are several plot twists. It may be long about the length of a Twilight or Harry Potter novel but its worth so many pages! This novel tells the story of how one day in a small Californian town everyone 15 and over mysteriously disappears. But that's not all. The town becomes surrounded by a strange spherical barrier, no one gets in or out. And stranger still, the children and teenagers left behind are discovering that some of them have weird mutant powers. And that snakes can fly. And coyotes can talk. In a world gone mad, power and leadership are up for the picking. In a world run by children, power belongs to the bullies, the sadists, or the mutants.

What i didn't like about the book was little. It kind of flips back and forth on which who it talks about. for example, some of the story will start with Sam and Astrid in one side of the FAYZ, but then a few pages  later the story breaks with them and starts to talk about Lana and her dog and her side of things. but eventually Lana meets Sam and Astrid and helps out with everything that is going on.

This is the first book of the six book series. Each book has the same characters but also introduces new characters with plot twists for everyone. I don't want to be a spoiler so i recommend this book to anyone who loves action, dystopian worlds, and "superheroes".

WTF it doesn't stand for what you think, it stands for WHAT/WHERE's THE FOOD (you'll understand where i got that once you read the second book.)

Summer Reading Book

DON'T TURN AROUND by: Michelle Gagnon

Sixteen-year-old Noa has been a victim of the system ever since her parents died. Now living off the gird and trusting no one, she uses her hacking skills to stay anonymous and alone. When she wakes up on a table in a warehouse with an IV in her arm and no memory of how she got there, Noa starts to wish she has someone on her side. Introduce Peter Gregory. A rich kid and the leader of a hacker alliance, Peter needs people with Noa's talents on his team. Especially after a shady corporation threatens his life for no uncertain terms. But what Noa and Peter don't realize is that Noa holds the key to a terrifying secret, and there are those who'd stop at nothing to muzzle her for ever.
What i liked about my book is that it wasn't some stupid romance/action book. It was mainly focused on the computer hackers and it's mostly a thriller. If you like the book "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s" you will like this book because the main character is just as smart, tough and complex as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s" main character. It is fast paced, nail-biting and suspenseful. It keeps you up reading. At first it focuses on Noa and Peter alone in their own world until Peter needs Noa's help. From their second meeting the story is about the both of them trying to figure out what the deal with this AMRF site is really about dodging and escaping dangers.
Honestly, there was nothing i didn't like about the book besides the fact that Amanda, Peter's (ex)girlfriend, was a minor character that wasn't mentioned very much. it would have been interesting to see the interaction of Amanda and Noa

my article is about a 15-year-old who admitted into hacking NASA computers.
